Torello, a small town of 12,000 inhabitants, is situated
to the north of Barcelona and surrounded by mountains which constitute the first slopes of
the Pyrenees.
Torello is full of cultural activities and not far from
regions famous for sports activities such as mountain climbing, hang-gliding and
paragliding. Because of this cultural and sporting spirit, a Mountain Film Festival was
established in 1983. A Festival known worldwide since its fourth edition and today one of
the most well known in Europe.
Now in its 18th edition, it has an attendance
of over 5,000 people. During the event, about 40 films from 14 countries are shown.
Various sections of this Festival include competitions, retrospectives and memorials.
Lectures, discussions and exhibitions are other activities that make up this event.
Several important personalities have taken part in the Torello Film Festival such as
Tardivel, Diemberger, Campagnoni, Lacedelli, Cassin, Hillary and Bonatti.
