The 9th edition of the Poprad
Festival, directed by Maria Hamorova, will take place from the 10th to the 14th October
2001.
Poprad is situated at the foot of
the High Tatra mountains in a delightful landscape marked by a variety of the colours,
from the green hills to the grey Tatra mountains, from the snow-covered peaks to the
multi-coloured burst of the flowers in spring and summer.
Established in Poprad, and promoted by the
City of Poprad, the Koliba Studio, the Slovak Film Institution, the Slovak Mountaineering
Club and Slovak Film Union, this festival represents a very important event for those fond
of exploration and adventure, with special guests such as Sir Edmund Hillary, Glenn
Singleman, Alain Robert, Tomaz Humar, Krysztof Wielicki, Kurt Diemberger, Michael Dillon,
Christoph Hainz.
It often shows remarkable documentaries
about alpine expeditions and interesting elements from films about that specific
geographic area.
