REGULATIONS

Art. 1
This Award seeks to enhance and promote cinema and TV productions, documentaries and films about mountain and adventure. It also acknowledges the significance of contemporary trends in those sectors of the movie industry concerned with adventure, alpine exploration, mountain culture and sports.

Art. 2
Prizes will be awarded to those works, either films by subject or documentaries, made after 1995 in the media of film and video. The competing works must deal with alpine adventure and exploration, the natural environment, mountain culture or sports. The above-mentioned works must have been presented to specialized Film Festivals in 1998 and need to be sent to the Award in the Betacam SP PAL format or 16 or 35 mm. film.

Art. 3
Competing works will be examined by an International Jury composed of the director of one of the most important international mountain film festivals and personalities from the cinema and mountain community. The Jury will be coordinated by the managment of the Award. Decisions of the Jury are unquestionable.

Art. 4
Films selected by the Jury will be awarded with the following prizes:

- First Prize and seven million Lire awarded to a movie selected from a pool of international film festival award-winners.

- Second Prize and five million Lire awarded to the film chosen from films suggested by the directors of the aforementioned film festivals. Works competing for this prize don't need to be winners of previous festivals.

- Further special prizes, provided to the jury by organizations not involved with the Award, will be distributed according to the organizations' will.

Art. 5
The Award ceremony will take place on the last night of the event. It will be open to the public and various representatives of the film industry and the media.

Art. 6
Prize-winners agree to allow Vivalda Editori (publishers of Alp magazine and the "Capolavori della Montagna" videotape collection) to buy the home video commercial rights for Italy, under conditions to be determined by contract. Competitors also agree to allow the festival to screen the films for promotional reasons.

Art. 7
The showing of works entered into the contest (and of other works) will occur in the order and program determined by the direction of the "PREMIO ALP/CERVINO", whose decisions are unappealable. Film-makers will be invited to introduce their movies on the day of their public showing. Upon arrival, each competitor receives a permanent admission card valid for two persons.

Art. 8
Applications enclosed with this set of rules must be correctly filled in and sent to the marked address by 3/30/1999. Please, enclose in the same envelope:

- VHS PAL copy for the "PREMIO ALP/CERVINO" archive. The direction reserves the right to show this copy as part of the video library of the Comune di Valtournenche, Valle d'Aosta, Italy.

- summary of the subject, brief CV and filmography of the director as well as a minimum of 5 b/w or color prints or slides (one of them portraying the director of the movie). The Direction of the "PREMIO ALP/CERVINO" reserves the right to publish them free of charge. These documents are to become property of the "PREMIO ALP/CERVINO"

Art.9
Competing works must arrive at the "PREMIO ALP/CERVINO" by 5/31/1999, enclosed with:

- Italian subtitles or 3 copies of the entire set of dialogues in English, French or German in order to allow their simultaneous translation into Italian.

- Director and producer's address as well as a return address for all material.

Art. 11
Although we commit ourseleves to preserving and turning these materials over to qualified persons, the direction refuses all responsibility in case of loss or damage to the films. Therefore it is suggested you insure your film.

Art.12
Shipment of the material to the "PREMIO ALP/CERVINO" is at the competitors' expense. Return shipment of the movies will be the at "PREMIO ALP/CERVINO"'s expense. The return of the movies will occur within a limited time from the Award closing date.

Art.13
Admission of the movies is subjected to all the norms and conditions as provided in this set of rules.
