ASSEMBLY OF AGIM/THE PRESS ROPE
The festival will again host the Italian mountain journalist association (AGIM), a
specialized group from the press federation (FNSI) founded during the festival in 2001,
under the shade of the Matterhorn.
This year, at the Cervino Film Festival, there will be a
contest for journalists, supported by the AGIM and reserved for articles and reports
centred around "mountain professions" which best illustrates a professional
enterprise's contributions to the correct fruition of the alpine environment, to its
knowledge of sport, tourism and development. The 2004 prize, awarded by the Italian Alpine
Guide Association, is dedicated to the memory of Franco Garda, one of the most renowned
alpine guides of Valle d'Aosta and the "father" of modern mountain rescue. He
was started his career as an alpine guide in 1953 and placed a lot of emphasis on mountain
safety. In 1975 he was a founding member of the Unione Valdostana Guide di Alta Montagna
and of the Soccorso Alpino Valdostano, above all he is mostly renowned for his work with
the Corpo Nazionale Soccorso Alpino e Speleologico (CNSAS) of which he was national
president from 1989 until his death in 1993. Due to his determination, a new law was
passed to support and protect the alpine rescue team.
During the final day of the Festival, there will be a
"press rope" lead by Antonio Carrel with the participation of members from the
Arca Community with the aim to reach the Bec di Nana, 3010 metres.
