The Sahara, one of the harshest desert climates on the
planet, was widely explored at the beginning of the twentieth century. In 1933, the
Austrian explorer Ladislaus Almasy (the protagonist from the film "The English
Patient" by Anthony Minghella) discovered some ancient drawings which portrayed a
paradise populated by giant animals bathing in rivers and lakes. The most expansive desert
on the planet has therefore once been a kind of earthly Paradise.
DIRECTOR
Michael Schlamberger studied medicine and founded the film production company, the Science
