Through meticulous research, the director offers a
complete vision of what mountains have been, as a subject, over more than a hundred years
of cinematography. Starting from the 1901 documentary on Cervino, to the decisive
turning-point marked by three personalities in the field of cinematography: Arnold Fanck,
Leni Riefenstahl and above all Luis Trenker, who possessed a natural ability to combine
his artistic abilities with mountains.
DIRECTOR
Michael Wachtler is an expert on all aspects of mountain life and culture, as well as a
great figure for the popularising of scientific matters. He is also a writer and director
collaborating with television stations and publishing houses.
