In
May 1952, the Swiss Raymond Lambert and the Sherpa Tenzing Norgay abandoned
their attempt to climb Mt. Everest at 8,600 metres, because of devices
which got damaged during the trip. They opened the way to the successful
attempt of the British expedition led by Sir Edmund Hillary who, one
year later, reached the top. After fifty years, the Swiss guide Stéphane
Schaffter organised an expedition in order to allow Lamberts and
Tenzings grandsons to reach the roof of the world.
