Two
former British army officers set out to climb an unknown mountain in
New Guinea. The name of the mysterious peak is Mandala. Their aim is
to climb its southern face which, as far as they know, has never been
scaled. They travel for three months through some of the most unexplored
zones, known to be inhabited by cannibals who have never had contacts
with the outside world. This movie was awarded with the Grand Prix at
Kendals Festival and with two Prizes at Banffs Festival.
DIRECTORS
Bruce Parry is a former Royal Marine officer. At age of 23 he was
trainer officer at Lympstone, the youngest person holding such an office
ever. Then he left the Royal Marines and started leading expeditions
throughout the world, and he is now involved in television production
as expedition leader, compère and filmmaker. Cannibals and
Crampons is Bruces directorial debut.
Mark
Anstice was a tank commander in the army, which he left seven years
ago in order to become to expeditions leader and mountain climber.
