Some Tibetan families send their own children to a dangerous and often deadly march across Himalayas and Nepal, to give them the chance of getting a school education in their own culture and to practice their religion. Maria Blumencron followed the trek, creating a thrilling report that through simplicity and impressive images narrates the dramatic flight across the Himalayas and the arrival in the Tibetan House of Children Dharamsala, India.

DIRECTOR
Maria Blumencron was born in Austria and has always travelled a lot. She is an established broadcasting scriptwriter for the ZDF WDR and BR networks. She scripted many radio plays (Kommst du mit nach Durian?; Der König hat nen Vogel; Pflaume mit Salz; Der Trek der Kinder); at the moment she is preparing two documentaries for the BR TV network (Donauklöster e Die Sinne). In 2002 she won the prizes Deutscher Kinderhörspielpreis e WDR - Kinderrechtspreis.
