two of series titled The Mountain Man, this is the tangled
story of the first ascent of McKinlay (Denali), North Americas's
highest mountain. Who climbed it first? Was it Frederick Cook,
America's greater explorer? Was it the "Sourdoughs", a bunch of
grizzly Alaskan miners? Or was it Hudson Stuck, an eccentric English
missionary who believed that the mountain had called to him?
DIRECTOR
Born in 1963, Mick Conefrey is a documentaries freelance director
living between London and Bologna. Since from the beginning of
his career has worket at BBC studios. Among his documentaries
there are: Think of England (1991), Dancing in the Streets
(1995), Icemen (3 episodes, 1998), and The Mountain
Man (2001), including Mystery of Mount McKinley.
