What do a grey-haired artistic couple, a middle-aged policeman, a twenty-something new dad and an enchanted Central European landscape have in common? In their engaging new documentary, Jump!, Allen Hill and John Catto set out to show us. In the Czech Republic there are hundreds of towering sandstone pillars which have been a rock/climbing haven for decades. Jump! profiles three generations of hearty jumpers who discuss what motivates them, why they love this off beat and hazardous hobby and how it has impacted their lives.

DIRECTORS
Allen Hill is both rock climber and mountaineer. He has climbed in Alaska, Canada, Yosemite, and has done numerous first ascents in the desert southwest and in Colorado. He has a BA in philosophy and studied cinematography and documentary film making at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. His first film, Skin Care for the Living Dead (1989), is an homage to an early influence on his life, George Romero, as well as his final project at Tisch, Flop Sweats, is influenced by another mentor, John Waters. Since returning to Colorado from New York, Allen has directed documentaries for several production companies. For the past 4 years his concentration has been on Jump!, travelling to Czech Republic 8 times, and on restoring his home in Denver, where he lives with his wife and 2 dogs.

John Catto recently won an Emmy for his work behind the camera for a video for National Geographic Television called Hitting the Wall, documenting a 23-day climb of Great Sail Peak on Baffin Island in Canada's far north. He was part of the seven-person climbing team, sponsored by National Geographic, which made the first ascent ever of Great Sail Peak, an isolated mountain that towers 5,300 feet above sea level. He has also traveled to remote Iceland and Myanmar for National Geographic Television capturing adventurous images of those lands. Other film projects include Jump!, produced by his own Alpenglow Films.
