and last episode of the series The Mountain Man, this is the story
of Fritz Wiessener and Charley Houston, two great climbers who
tried to get to the top of K2, the second highest mountain in
the world. In 1939 Wiessener almost made it, but his expedition
ended in bitter controversy. Fourteen years later, Charley Houston
made his second attempt on the mountain. It ended in tragedy but
it is an amazing story of courage and camaraderie.
DIRECTOR
Born in 1963, Mick Conefrey is a documentaries freelance
director living between London and Bologna. Since from the beginning
of his career has worked at BBC studios. Among his documentaries
there are: Think of England (1991), Dancing in the Streets
(1995), Icemen (3 episodes, 1998), and The Mountain
Man (2001), including The Ghost of K2.
