On
the high mountains of Perù, at the foot of the imposing Amanea
glacier lies the Rinconada gold mine, at an altitude of 5.400
meters. In order to extract the precious metal, men, women and
children live and work night and day in this dreadful glacier
under the harshest conditions. Bound by a verbal contract, the
miners are exposed to all the risks without receiving any economic
guarantee. None of them can escape the remnants of a feudal system
called "cachorreo'. Born from nothing, Rinconada is a huge shantytown
of 30, 000 penniless wretches. It doesen't appear on any map and
is still not recognised by the government.

on some of the least known regions on earth such as Laos, Birmania,
Mongolia, Perù and Bolivia.
