Alpiteam, since 15 years one of Mountain Climbing schools of CAI (Italian Alpine Club) large panorama, has now the possibility to resume a journey interrupted some years ago.

Not being part of any particular section of CAI, but putting his technical structures and his instructors at disposal of all the CAI sections, groups and associations who asked for their help, Alpiteam for some years has cooperated with those social realities working to help people affected by social deseases for whom the experience of climbing can be a very important educational moment of growing up and psycho-social recovery. The success of courses born in cooperation with the communities working with people affected by drugs and minors living in difficult conditions has underlined from the first momen their human and educationl value, first of all for people living in that same communities. Problems linked to the voluntary service precariousness and difficulties to get founds have unfortunately interrupted the possibility to organize more courses.

In 2001, thanks to the attention of Cervino International Film Festival, some issues linked to the relationship between mountain and education, mountain climbing and social desease have been discussed during a meeting. It has also been discussed the possibility to organize social courses again. It's with a new enthusiasm that Alpiteam resumes today the interrupted work. With the close cooperation of don Aldo Fortunato's Arca Community in Como, that works with people affected by drugs, have been organized in the past years very important courses. The hope is that this is a new beginning of an experience which, with the help of all, can favour this kind of activity as a way not only to help people from communities but also to enrich the whole CAI, its members, its schools.

Mountain, as natural ambient, place of sports action and occasion to create and strenghten relationships, is a very important support where there are conditions of psychological desease. The experiences that some communities working with youngs or people affected by drugs or by serious psychiatric disturbs have made in mountain show how much activities such as excursionism and mountain climbing can help.

But the same places chosen for rehabilitation are completely a part from problems such as alcoholism, drugs and mental desease? Which are the possible relationships between different ambients and therapeutic experiences to cayy on in places in which analogous disturbs can rise?
