I
NOSTRI ANNI
OUR TIMES
Daniele Gaglianone, Italy, 2001, 90', b/n, 35mm
with Virgilio Biei, Piero Franzo, Giuseppe BoccalatteAlberto
is a tired lonely old man. Now a widower, he leaves town to spend the summer in a bording
house for old people. Natalino is also a lonely disillusioned old man who lives in an old
deserted village in the mountains. The two men are united by a common experience as
partisan fighters in the Piedmont mountains.
One episode, in particular, has been embedded in their
memory and soul for years: the memory of the violence some injuried comrades suffered
before being killed by the Black Brigades and the revenge they swore on the officer who
led the ambush. In the boarding house, Alberto makes friends with Umberto, who is an old
man confined to a wheelchair and saddened by the death of his son.
