In 1983, two young climbers from Allgäu, Holger Wendel and Thomas Burger, came close to the frontier between life and death on the North face of the Eiger.

Whilst they were engaged in the climb, a sudden change in weather, when they were half way up the face, destroyed their dreams and hopes.
